Check out K-Rec & Estea El’s new E.P It’s called “FOREVER FRICTION”. Cool name huh?. It’s referring to a burning desire not to be safe and repetitive and boring. And also to purposly test comfort levels, expectations, etc.
The E.P. has 6 tracks, which is pretty full on for an E.P.. It’s actually a pretty satisfying time span of music. Estea was suggesting sample ideas to K-Rec, and K-Rec kept doing such a great job of turning those ideas into fresh realities that they didn’t want to stop!
So anyway… the basic concept for this release was to sample from Punk / Hard Core greats, to create a collection of music that would bring people together and give the Hard Core community and the Hip-Hop “heads” some common ground, because as Elvis Costello sang “what’s so funny about peace, love, and understanding?”
Their hope was to avoid those projects that bastardise both art forms by doing a poor job of both simultaneously! K and Estea realise that they are a hip-hop crew and they kept to what they know for this one. It’s classic hip-hop all the way. It’s just a shout out to another genra that the boys have a lot of love and respect for.
